Ti Sarana (Refuge) Ceremony
When a practitioner reaches a point where they feel a growing commitment to the Buddhist path of practice, they can take the formal step of Ti Sarana, or Going for Refuge in the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. Our Lay Ministers can offer Ti Sarana under the auspices of Bright Dawn. Virtual Ti Sarana Services may also be arranged.
Wedding Services
Bright Dawn Lay Ministers are trained in performing weddings, and are generally considered in most states to be clergy. The couple getting married and the LM should check with local courts to determine requirements for performing a wedding in the state in which the service will be performed.
Memorial Services
Many of our LMs are available to do memorial services either formally at a funeral home (through cooperation with the funeral provider) or in churches or informal settings.
Other Services
Several LMs lead Buddhist groups and can perform other duties, such as house blessings, baby blessings, prayer vigils, and other services. Many also speak at churches and other organizational functions. The Bright Dawn Leadership Council and other Lay Ministers perform online services for holidays and other special occasions.
